Google targets Paypal, Square and Apple; Buzzfeed acquires HuffPost and Roblox is going public.
Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) is relaunching Google Pay and they’re coming for Paypal, Square and Apple Pay. The new Google Pay will offer peer-to-peer payment to compete with Venmo and Cash App, a cashback reward system that will go toe to toe with Square’s CashApp. Google Pay also has groups for splitting checks that’s similar to Apple Pay. Buzzfeed is taking HuffPost off Verizon’s hands. This is part of a larger arrangement to share content across platforms. The two companies will put heads together to better monetise content. The children game company is putting on its big boy pants an d going public. The company offers free to use services but charges for premium features. Roblox did not disclose how much it plans to raise or its valuation. The game maker’s revenue increased to $588.7 million, a 68% increase from the first three quarters of last year.
